About Celanese Corporation
The Celanese Corporation is a Fortune 500 company, the 13th largest chemical company in the U.S., with annual revenues exceeding $6 billion.
It may not mean much to say that the Celanese Corporation is the world's largest producer of acetyl products, but consider that acetyl is used in everything from paints and inks to agricultural products, chewing gum, aspirin and vinegar.
In addition to acetic acid, Celanese Corporation's Chemical Products segment produces and supplies vinyl acetate and performance chemicals, such as emulsions and polyvinyl alcohol, primarily serving customers in the chemical, paint, construction materials and adhesives industries.
Chemical products account for 72% of the Celanese Corporation's sales, followed by engineered polymers (14%), acetates (11%) and performance products (3%).
Polymers from Celanese Corporation's Technical Polymers business in Ticona are used in the automotive, electronics, medical technology and consumer products industries, often replacing metal or glass. Celanese Corporation's Cellulose Acetate Products business segment is one of the world's largest producers of acetate tow, used primarily to make filter products, including filters for cigarettes. Celanese Corporation's Nutrinova food segment business offers performance products, which are used in sweeteners and preservatives in over 100 countries worldwide.
